Rhetorical structure mastery of tertiary students’ speech: Challenges and possible solutions

Rhetorical structure in speaking is essential to guiding students through and making public speeches. Thus, this research explores the students’ mastery of rhetorical a speech, their challenges, potential solutions. A mixed method with an explanatory design was employed achieve objectives. The data were collected test interviews using instruments validated by peer researchers. analysed quantitatively qualitatively; while quantitative simple statistical analysis, qualitative examined several stages, namely reduction, display, conclusion. results show that average not significantly high. Some faced challenges such as language problems structures. Language issues articulated grammar, anxiety, excessive use fillers. became problematic because unfamiliar how attract audience when they insufficiently used supported illustrations rarely concluded speech. possible solutions those include training continual guidance from lecturers.
